"We must not only pray in Christ's name, but by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. This explains what is meant when it is said that the Spirit "maketh intercession for us, with groanings which cannot be uttered." Rom. 8:26."
Christ’s Object Lessons p.147
This is a hard passage. It is hard because we might think that inspiration is something that the Prophets of old had. We can cope with the idea that,
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”
2 Timothy 3:16
The thought that we might be inspired is a tough prospect. We might think that we aren’t good enough. We might consider that we don’t deserve this privilege.
Think rather that it is because we aren’t able enough that we are given the gift of God, to be inspired by the Holy Spirit. What does the Bible say?
“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.”
Romans 8:26
You will have noticed that I use the New International Version translation of the Bible for this blog. I need to make my words really clear. God needs to do the same, that’s why He gives us the Holy Spirit. God inspires us so that He can be sure to communicate with us. He needs to hear us accurately and effectively so that we can hear Him accurately and effectively.
You might consider yourself unworthy, but it is at that point you are counted most worthy. It is at that point when you can say, “I want the Holy Spirit in my life. I want to speak clearly to God.”
Call your prayer partner. Explain what has happened for you and together ask for the Holy Spirit to enter your life.
