Day 24 Sabbath rest

Day 24

Sabbath rest

It is interesting that our author separates physical rest and relaxation from the Sabbath. Perhaps he is trying to make a very good point.

I hear people speak about, “my Sabbath” and then others focus on taking a break from work to recover. It would appear that some people have replaced rest and relaxation for health with the Sabbath.

I love the emphasis our author has put on the Sabbath. God didn’t rest on the Sabbath because He was tired out. As Isaiah puts it, God doesn’t grow weary. The Sabbath is there to give a time for us to be able to spend time with God. The Sabbath is there to allow the relationship with God to prosper.

Today is Tuesday, how about working out how you can create the environment this Sabbath so that you focus on helping yourself, and others, spend time with God.

You might choose to make sure that for good health’s sake you are well rested and relaxed before the Sabbath arrives. You might make an arrangement to spend time preparing an activity with your family that brings you all closer to God.
